Erich Joch

Erich Joch (born February 17, 1913 in Eisleben , † March 9, 2003 in Quedlinburg ) was a German athlete .

Joch began as a handball player at TB Eisleben, later he was at MSV Wimsdorf, Mars Quedlinburg, Viktoria Magdeburg and Friesen Stendal. At the German Championships in 1934 and 1935 he was fourth in the triple jump , at the German Championships in 1936 he took second place behind Heinz Wöllner with a width of 15.00 m . At the Olympic Games in 1936 he jumped 14.88 m and in seventh just missed the final battle of the six best jumpers. In total, he started three times in the national jersey. Joch jumped his best performance of 15.09 m on July 30, 1939 in Stuttgart.

In 1936 Joch was a non-commissioned officer, later he was a sports teacher. In the 1960s he was a trainer at BSG Tractor Quedlinburg.
