Erich Lehmann (soccer player, 1916)

Erich Lehmann (born July 9, 1916 ; † unknown) was a German soccer player who played between 1949 and 1951 for the ZSG Union Halle and BSG Turbine Halle in the highest East German soccer league .

Athletic career

After the end of the Second World War , Erich Lehmann was involved in the revival of football in Halle (Saale) . He first played in the Halle-Glaucha sports community, which was renamed SG Freiimfelde Halle in 1948 and merged with the ZSG Union Halle in spring 1949. Without Lehmann, SG Freiimfelde went into the final of the 1st soccer east zone championship in 1948, which was lost 0: 1 against SG Planitz . In 1949 ZSG Union also reached the eastern zone finals . This time with Lehmann as left defender, the Halle team won the eastern zone championship with a 4-1 victory over SG Fortuna Erfurt .

As the East Zone Master, the ZSG Union was entitled to start the first season of the newly founded East German Zone League (later DS-Oberliga, GDR-Oberliga ). The 33-year-old Lehmann was nominated as a defender for the 1949/50 season. He was there from the first day of play and only missed two point games by the end of the season. Also in the 1950/51 season, Lehmann was a regular player for the Halle team until the 27th league game, and they now operated under the name BSG Turbine. The match between Motor Oberschöneweide and Turbine Halle (4: 1) was Lehmann's last game in the DS-Oberliga, seven game days before the end of the season. In his two first division seasons he had come to 49 appearances, as a defensive player he scored no goals.

For the 1951/52 season Lehmann moved to the second division promoted Hochschulsportgemeinschaft (HSG) Wissenschaft Halle . In this and the season 1952/53 he played 38 point games in the GDR league . In his second HSG season he scored five goals, the only championship goals between 1949 and 1953. In the 1953/54 season he was only used once for the HSG. Then he ended his career in high-class football at the age of 38.
