Erich Müller (politician, 1938)

Erich Müller-Bucher (born April 1, 1938 in Henau , Canton St. Gallen ; † February 28, 2019 in Winterthur ) was a Swiss industrial manager and politician ( FDP ).

Erich Müller first completed an apprenticeship in a bank. After graduating from high school, he studied economics (lic. Oec. HSG) at the University of St. Gallen (HSG) . In 1965 he started his career in the IT department at the Winterthur industrial group Sulzer AG . He trained as a programmer and worked in the group's IT management. He became assistant to the chief financial officer, head of preliminary costing in finance and accounting and finally chief financial officer of Sulzer AG, later general director and member of the group management and board of directors of Sulzer. In 2001 he retired.

Müller started a second career in politics and has been involved as a career changer for the Free Democratic Party since 1995 . He was a member of the National Council of the Canton of Zurich from 1995 to 2003. He was a member of the Security Policy Commission NR (1995–1998), Finance Commission NR (1998–2003) and Finance Delegation (1999–2000 as Vice President; 2000–2001 as President; 2001–2003 as member).

From 1978 to 1990 he was involved in the church maintenance of St. Peter and Paul in Winterthur. Among other things, he was President of the Swiss Foundation “Solidarity Third World” in Winterthur. Müller had been a member of the Swiss Student Association since his student days .
