Erich Roßburg (life dates unknown) was a German football player .

Career

Roßburg belonged to the SpVgg 1899 Leipzig from the Lindenau district , for which he played point games as a striker from 1921 to 1924 in the championships organized by the Association of Central German Ball Game Clubs in the district of North West Saxony. His first season and his last season he finished with three points ahead of VfB Leipzig in a league with ten and 13 teams respectively as champions.

Due to the two successes, he and his team also took part in the finals for the Central German Championship. In the round-robin tournament with the other six district champions, his team prevailed as champions in 1922 without losing points and with only one goal conceded. In 1924, the final round was played in a knockout system . The second round match at Zwickauer SC , which ended 1: 1 on March 30, was won 7: 2 in the replay on April 6 on his own pitch. Having reached the semi-finals by bye in the quarterfinals, his team also mastered the game at FV Fortuna Magdeburg 5-2. A week later his team met FC Wacker Halle in the final in Leipzig and defeated them 2-1.

With his team as two-time Central German champions, he also took part twice in the finals for the German championship . His debut on May 21, 1922 in Halle an der Saale ended in the quarter-finals against 1. FC Nürnberg with 0: 3.

On May 11, 1924, he played the quarter-finals , won 6-1 against VfB Königsberg in Leipzig , in which he scored 1-0 in the 14th, 4-1 in the 59th and 5-1 in the 65th minute scored three goals. This made him - together with Luitpold Popp from Nuremberg - the most successful goal scorer in the competition. The end of the competition overtook him and his team on May 25, 1924 in Hamburg , in the 0-1 defeat against Hamburger SV in the semifinals.
