Erich Süßenberger
Erich Süßenberger (born February 13, 1911 , † December 1, 2007 in Offenbach am Main ) was a German meteorologist .
Erich Berger Sweet was in 1935 at the University of Frankfurt with the work "New studies on the nightly Effective radiance" to Dr. phil. nat. PhD . He was a member of the Arminia Frankfurt fraternity .
In 1953 Erich Süßenberger joined the civil service in the Federal Ministry of Transport . In 1965 he was appointed President of the DWD as head of the "Weather Service" department. From 1966 until his retirement in 1977 he was the third president of the German Weather Service (DWD) .
He particularly endeavored to international cooperation and networking of the national weather services and was involved in the committees of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) . He was the initiator of the European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (EZMW) in Reading, England. He was a member of the German Meteorological Society (DMG)
