Erich Straßner
Erich Straßner (born April 17, 1933 in Treuchtlingen ; † May 7, 2012 in Mössingen ) was a German linguist and media scientist. Until 2001 he taught as a professor at the New Philology Faculty of the Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen . His main academic work was media linguistics and the history of the German language, including research on language use during the Nazi dictatorship. He was co-editor of the three-volume standard work media studies. A handbook for the development of media and forms of communication (de Gruyter, 1999–2002) and founder of the department of media studies and journalism in Tübingen.
