Erich Witzmann

Erich Witzmann (* 1945 ) is an Austrian historian and journalist.

Erich Witzmann studied history and German at the University of Graz and received his doctorate from the University of Vienna . After completing his studies, Witzmann worked for a short time as a businessman. In 1973 he began his journalistic career at the daily newspaper Die Presse , from 1986 to 1993 he worked for the Salzburger Nachrichten before returning to the daily newspaper Die Presse from 1993 to 2009. Most recently, Witzmann was head of the education and science policy department and editor in the press department for domestic policy .

Witzmann is a member of the Club of Education and Science Journalists and served it from 1983 to 1990 as deputy chairman, from 1990 to 2000 as chairman, and from 2010 to 2012 as vice chairman.

Witzmann is a member of the beating country team Grenzlandmannschaft Cimbria in the CC (Coburg Convent) in Vienna.

Erich Witzmann is married to the ethnologist Reingard Witzmann.
