biography

In Saarland grew up, studied Erik graphic designer in Saarbruecken, degree in 1989. After a period as an art director , he moved in 1994 to Dusseldorf for employment as a copywriter, before returning as a freelance active writer and artist to Saarbruecken 2,001th

Erik first came into contact with comics through grandfather and father, who read Wilhelm Busch to him with fascinating style, and later through his mother with Asterix . As a child, however, he was most interested in Buck Danny . In the meantime, however, he reads very few comics, preferably by artists whom he has come to know and appreciate personally, such as Baru with whom he signed at the children's and youth book fair in Saarbrücken.

Comic book

Ice age

Ice Age was Erik's first attempt to create a larger comic book. Designed for five parts, only the first, Piter , was realized from 1999 to 2000. The fragment comprises a total of 96 pages, which were subsequently published from summer 2011 to spring 2012 on the artist's homepage with two new pages every Tuesday as a webcomic . This was followed by an outlook on the planned continuation of the series, in more detail for the second volume, and some production information.

The story of Piter takes place from New Year's Eve 2049 to January 2, 2050 mainly in St. Petersburg , of which Piter is a common Russian nickname. The northern hemisphere is suffering from the tilting of the Gulf Stream. In front of the city limits of St. Petersburg there is also the freezer of a US company and global television broadcaster. Deathly ill citizens from all over the "United States of Europe" are kept frozen in this until they can be cured. Suspected computer malfunction is causing the wrong patients to be thawed. In the chaos one of them can escape who apparently carries a good two dozen deadly pathogens and is very agile despite significantly hypothermic body temperature. Two policemen, Elena and Boris, are sent out to pursue them. The US company and a Japanese competitor are also interested in the fugitive.

Erik only drew this story on evenings and weekends while he was employed full-time in the advertising industry. He was inspired by a survey by a business magazine among scientists about the global progress of mankind, in which pandemics and the tilting of the Gulf Stream were mentioned. The story was presented to a French publisher who only wanted to publish completed 46-page stories by a new artist.

Deae ex machina

Deae ex machina was Erik's first published comic. From January to the end of August 2009, the series ran in nine monthly episodes of usually two chapters as a webcomic. Publications in sequels in Comix magazine and collected in albums followed.

Dédé

Dédé was Erik's first printed comic. The debut album, Are you dead, Madame? , appeared in May 2010, one month before the first chapter of Deae was preprinted in Comix 06/2010.
