Erik Robert Lindahl

Erik Robert Lindahl (born November 21, 1891 in Stockholm , † January 6, 1960 in Uppsala ) was a Swedish economist and member of the "Stockholm School".

Life

Between 1942 and 1960 he was a professor at the universities of Lund , Gothenburg and Uppsala . In 1957 he was elected a corresponding member of the British Academy .

His main works are the studies on money and capital theory published in 1939 . However, it owes its current fame to an earlier article: In 1919, Lindahl proposed a method for financing public goods that is very similar to a market solution . The prices determined with the help of this procedure for the individual consumers are called Lindahl prices (see also benefit pricing ).
