Erika Bethmann

Erika Bethmann (born August 31, 1939 in Hamburg ) is a former German foil fencer and participant in the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. She fought at ETV Hamburg .

Bethmann was third in the German Championships in women's floret in 1968 and 1970 . In 1972 she was a member of the women's floret team at the Summer Olympics. Together with Gudrun Theuerkauff , Karin Gießelmann , Monika Pulch and Irmela Broniecki , she took fifth place.

In the 1970s, Bethmann became a trainer for the fencing department of the Upper Alster Association for Water Sports in North Hamburg. During this time, the juniors of the fencing department won several Hamburg championships and took top places at the German junior championships.
