Karin Rutz-Gießelmann

Karin Rutz-Gießelmann (* 16th January 1948 in Offenburg as Karin Gießelmann ) is a former German fencer , multiple German champion and participant in the Olympic Games. She fought at FC Tauberbischofsheim .

Gießelmann came to Tauberbischofsheim when she was eleven, where she was trained by Emil Beck . In 1967 she became German junior champion in women's floret, in 1969 and 1972 German champion of the active. In 1971 she became runner-up, in 1973 she (as Karin Rutz) took third place at a German championship.

At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich , Gießelmann took part in both the individual and the team. With the team (Gießelmann, Gudrun Theuerkauff , Irmela Broniecki , Monika Pulch , Erika Bethmann ) she finished fifth, in the individual she was eliminated in the first round. At the 1976 Summer Games in Montreal , she was again part of the women's floret team and was fourth together with Cornelia Hanisch , Ute Kircheis-Wessel , Brigitte Oertel and Jutta Höhne . Together with Brigitte Oertel, Ute Kircheis and Cornelia Hanisch, she was team vice-world champion behind the team of the USSR at the world championships in 1977 .

Karin Rutz-Gießelmann is married to the dentist Klaus Rutz, who was also a fencing master from Baden. You have a daughter.
