Erika Gesell

Erika Gesell (born May 16, 1940 in Neuss ; † September 14, 2013 in Berlin ) was a German actress .

Life

Gesell initially completed an apprenticeship as a bank clerk , while also taking courses in acting with a degree in Düsseldorf. This was followed by her first roles in Düsseldorf at the Theater an der Berliner Allee as well as smaller roles at the Schillertheater in Berlin under the direction of Boleslaw Barlog , where she also worked in the dramaturgy .

She later worked as a dramaturge and actress in Cologne for Hansgünther Heyme and with Boy Gobert at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg and in the same function with Boy Gobert at the Schillertheater in Berlin. Together with Helmut Baumann she created translations of musicals, for example I get out and do my own show , Chicago , Cage aux Folles and Grand Hotel . In 1969 she worked in the film One day is more beautiful than the other as an actress. She is responsible for more than 50 productions that were created in Berlin, Munich, Bern, Lucerne, Aachen, Hildesheim, Ulm, Heilbronn and Bamberg.

Private

She was married to Werner Don Balmer and died of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) after a long and serious illness .
