Erika Ternes

Erika Ternes (born October 16, 1941 in Hemmersdorf ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

Ternes attended the Catholic elementary school in Hemmersdorf from 1947 to 1955 and then completed an apprenticeship as a retail saleswoman by 1958. In 1985/86 she took part in the women's study project at the Saarland University . From July 1986 she was the head of the mobile social aid service of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt in Saarlouis .

In 1978 she joined the trade union for trade, banking and insurance , and in July 1987 she switched to ÖTV . Ternes has been a member of the SPD since March 1979. Within the party, she is primarily involved in the working group of social democratic women , of which she was a member of the state executive from 1985 to 1987. In addition, she is currently a member of the board of the SPD local association Überm Berg ( Dillingen ). In January 1990 she was elected to the Saarland State Parliament, of which she was a member until 2004.

Ternes is married and has one child. She is involved in various projects on a voluntary basis, including the Saarlouis women's shelter, the Saarland Democracy Foundation and the Farbklang cultural association.
