Career
The 1.75 m tall defender began his career with EC VSV , for which he played in the Bundesliga until 2001 , interrupted by two seasons in the WHL , with the Brandon Wheat Kings , who pulled him in the first round of the 1995 CHL Import Draft and with whom he was able to celebrate the championship title once. He left Villach for the 2001/02 season for DEL . With the Schwenninger Wild Wings , the left-handed shooter only finished last, but the relegation could be averted by winning the playdown series against the Berlin Capitals . From 2009 Unterluggauer played again at his hometown club from Villach , where he was captain until 2015. After the 2015/16 season he no longer received a new contract from the VSV.
He played for UECR Huben in the Carinthian League until mid-January 2017, before the Heilbronner Falken brought him to the second German league as an assistant coach. There he took over in February after Fabian Dahlem's position as head coach of the club.
For the 2018/19 season , the EC VSV hired him as head coach and sporting director.

In the junior division, Unterluggauer represented his home country at the U18 B European Championship in 1994 and the U20 B World Championship in 1993 , 1994 and 1995 .
