Commemorative medal for 1848–1849 (Braunschweig)

The commemorative medal for 1848–1849 was donated on May 8, 1891 by Prince Albrecht of Prussia as regent of the Duchy of Braunschweig .

It could be awarded to all soldiers, doctors and civil servants of the Braunschweig units who took part in the 1848/49 campaigns in Schleswig-Holstein .

The bronze medal shows a laurel wreath on the obverse , in the middle of which the initial (Wilhelm) can be seen surmounted by a crownW . On the reverse under a six-pointed star the inscription:

SCHLESWIG-HOLSTEIN 1848–1849

The award was worn on a golden yellow ribbon with wide light blue stripes on the left chest.
