The Eritgau (also Ertgau or Heregau ) was a medieval district in what is now Baden-Württemberg . The Eritgau was located in northern Upper Swabia and stretched in the north-west to close to the banks of the Danube and to the east as far as the Westernach river and the Nördlinger Ries ; including the places Biberach , Buchau , Mengen , Saulgau , Waldsee , Aulendorf and Alberweiler .

- In 1004 Wolfrad von Altshausen became Count of Eritgau.
