recognition
Recognition describes a cognitive process of abstraction in which a perception is assigned to a term , concept or identification .
Basics
In psychology and neurology , recognition refers to the process by which living beings (especially humans ) generate a model of their environment from a sensory perception ( sensory stimuli ) , usually by comparing it with a previously learned pattern. This capacity is also known as the gnostic meaning of the sense organs.
Analogously, the term is used in computer science and robotics to describe how a computer program, by analyzing sensor data, assigns it to an abstract concept ( artificial intelligence ). This also plays an important role in automated identification technology ( identification ).
