Church of the Redeemer

The Erlöserkirche is a Protestant church in the Wermingsen district of the city of Iserlohn in the Märkisches Kreis .

The foundation stone was laid in the 1950s and the consecration took place at the end of October 1957 by the President of the Protestant Church of Westphalia Ernst Wilm .

The church was built according to plans by the architect Denis Boniver from Mettmann as a pure brick architecture with a single nave and a semicircular chancel . The church room is kept simple.

15 small windows in the upper fifth of the brick walls on the side let only a little light into the nave. Seven of the small windows are in the left eastern wall. Also on the left brick wall is the organ from the Wilhelmshaven organ building workshop Führer on a gallery . In the chancel there are five church windows made of antique glass in lead and black solder. Above the gallery on the main portal there is a round window made of lead-laid antique glass. The antique glass windows were made around 1960 to designs by the Iserlohn pastor and artist Erich Tomczak.

The wooden gable roof construction is kept open to the church interior.

The church tower is at the southeast corner of the church building. At its top, 50 meters high, there is a copper globe that is crowned by an eight-meter high cross. The tower houses four bells.

To the west of the church building is a parish hall, which is directly connected to the church.
