Wermingsen is a district of the Sauerland town of Iserlohn in the Märkisches Kreis . The district is east of the city center and borders on Calle . At the end of 2019, Wermingsen and Wiesengrund had 6,896 inhabitants.
Around 1309 the place was called Wermelinchusen . According to Friedrich Leopold Woeste , this name means "to the houses of the wormlings". Here was the ancestral home of the Werminghausen family , a Westphalian noble family .
The Catholic Church of the Most Holy Trinity and the Evangelical Church of the Redeemer are located in Wermingsen .
