Trinity Church

The Roman Catholic Parish Church of the Holy Trinity is a church building at Schulstrasse 35 in Wermingsen , a district of Iserlohn in the Märkisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia . The community is part of the Iserlohn-Mitte pastoral network.

History and architecture

The main nave of the reinforced concrete structure stands above a parabolic floor plan with low aisles and a free-standing tower . The parabolic floor plan was chosen based on the model of the Holy Cross Church in Bottrop. The building was erected together with the community annexes on both sides from 1957 to 1958 according to plans by Otto Weicken . The facility stands on a hill above an elongated green area; the protruding nave and the bell tower form an urban accent. The design with white wall surfaces and colored window strips is functional. The orientation towards the altar is enhanced by the sloping floor. The choir is emphasized by three-lane, floor-to-ceiling colored windows by Irmgard Wessel-Zumloh on both sides . The altar cross from Florence from the 16th century is also remarkable .

The organ with normal couplings and a mechanical game and stop action was built in 1992 by the Albers-Orgelbau company in Schmallenberg-Oberkirchen. The organ building company Krawinkel cleaned and renovated the instrument in 2012 in connection with a post-intonation .

On November 23, 2019, the church was entered in the list of monuments of the city of Iserlohn (No. 253).
