The Erlebnishaus Old School is a Grade II listed school building in the town of Güntersberge of city Harzgerode in resin in Saxony-Anhalt . Today it serves as a museum and club house.

location

It is located at the western entrance to Güntersberge on the south side of Burgstrasse, over which Bundesstrasse 242 runs, at the address Burgstrasse 37a . Opposite the house, Hohe Strasse joins Burgstrasse. The mountain lake is to the southwest .

Architecture and history

The school building was erected in 1930. The plastered two-storey building rests on a brick-facing base and is subdued by means of a cornice and window frames. The design language is modern in the design typical of the construction period in rural areas. The street-side entrance area was designed to be representative. In the northeast corner of the house, below the cornice, there is a sculpture of a child carrying a school cone . The figure is framed with decorations in the style of Art Deco . The date of 1930 is given below. The building is covered with a hipped roof .

The building is no longer in use as a school, but is used by the Förderkreis Güntersberge eV as a museum and club house. In the museum there is the forest cabinet , in which the Harz forest and its flora and fauna are discussed. Further exhibitions deal with the local history of Güntersberg and the school history. In addition, a 40 m² model railway layout of the H0 gauge with track layouts from the region will be shown. There is also a library in the building.

In the local register of monuments , the school is listed as a monument under registration number 094 84 955 .
