history
Erlenbacher was founded in 1973 by Klaus Fischer in Nieder-Erlenbach near Frankfurt am Main . At that time, production was carried out exclusively for other customers. The first cake that Erlenbacher produced was an apple cake for the frozen home service, which in turn delivered the cake to the end consumer in its own packaging and distribution.
In 1977 the company headquarters was relocated to Groß-Gerau. In 1998, Erlenbacher was taken over by Schöller , its largest customer at the time . In 1999 Erlenbacher started selling cakes and tarts under his own name. In 2002 Südzucker , which had meanwhile bought Schöller and thus also Erlenbacher, sold the company to the Swiss Nestlé Group. 2005 started with the brand "back hits" the sale of cake over Abholgroßmärkte . A major plant expansion took place from 2008 to 2011. Since October 1, 2016, Erlenbacher Backwaren GmbH has been part of Froneri , a joint venture between Nestlé and the British ice cream manufacturer R&R Ice Cream .
