Erlingur Birgir Richardsson (* 19th September 1972 ) is a from Iceland originating Handball coach .
Career
Erlingur Richardsson only played handball in his home country. His greatest success as a player was the 1991 cup victory with ÍB Vestmannaeyja . As early as 1998, the Kreisläufer began to coach the women's team in the youth area of Valur Reykjavík . When he switched back to ÍB Vestmannaeyja, he also took on the role of coach of the club's first women's team. This season as head coach he was able to win the runner-up championship and the Icelandic Cup with the team. After this success he took over the management of a men's team for the first time in 2002 as a player-coach. After a year break as a coach, Erlingur Richardsson was in charge of a women's team at HK Kópavogur in 2007 . That was the first station of the Icelander where he was employed exclusively as a trainer. In 2010 he took over the leadership of the men with whom he won the championship title in 2012. The following year he worked as an assistant coach for the Icelandic national team. In 2014 the Austrian first division club SG Handball West Wien secured its services. From the 2015/16 season until the premature separation in December 2016, he worked in the German handball Bundesliga for Füchse Berlin . In October 2017 he took over as coach of the Dutch national team .
