The Erlsbach is a brook in the municipality of St. Jakob in Defereggen ( Lienz district ). The stream rises east of the Seespitze as an outflow of the Alplesseen and flows south of the Erlsbach into the Schwarzach .

course

The Erlsbach rises south of the valley head "Alplesboden" between the Panargenlenke in the west, the Alplesspitze in the north and the Seespitze in the east. The source of the Erlsbach is the discharge of the lowest of the three larger Alplesseen, which are connected to each other by their outflows. Starting from the source, the Erlsbach flows south, taking in smaller source streams and flowing through alpine terrain. The Erlsbach passes to the west of the Erlsbacher Alm (2183 meters) and begins to plunge into the Defereggental at around 2100 meters above sea level , flowing through a wooded gorge from around 1900 meters above sea level. After passing several waterfalls, the Erlsbach reaches the village of the same name shortly before its mouth and flows into the Schwarzach shortly afterwards south of the village on the left.
