Ermenegildo Gasperoni

Ermenegildo Gasperoni (born August 4, 1906 , † June 26, 1994 ) was a politician from San Marino . He was a member of the San Marino government from 1945 to 1951 and 1955 to 1957 and was from October 1, 1978 to April 1, 1979 together with Adriano Reffi Capitano Reggente (head of state) of San Marino.

Life

Gasperoni was one of the founders of the Partito Comunista Sammarinese (PCS) in 1941. In the parliamentary elections in 1945 and 1949, the PCS joined the Partito Socialista Sammarinese (PSS) on the Comitato della Libertà (CdL) list and achieved an absolute majority Seats. From the 1951 election onwards, PCS and PSS ran on separate lists, but together they formed the government until the Rovereta clashes in September 1957.

Gasperoni was elected in the parliamentary elections in 1945 and 1949 on the list of the CdL, and in 1951 and 1955 on the list of the PCS in the San Marinese parliament, the Consiglio Grande e Generale . From 1945 to 1951 he was a member of the San Marinese government (Congresso di Stato) . After a casino was built on the border with Italy in 1949, Italy responded with an economic blockade. This led to an economic crisis in San Marino. From June to September 1951, an emergency government, to which Gasperoni also belonged, was formed from 8 members each from the previous ruling coalition and the opposition. In the government formed by the PSS and PCS after the 1955 election, Gasperoni was Minister of Social Affairs (Deputato per l'Assistenta e la Previdenza) . When the government lost its parliamentary majority due to the resignation of several MPs, a constitutional crisis broke out. The previous opposition, led by the Christian Democrats ( PDCS ), formed a provisional government and withdrew to Rovereta, near the border. The left-wing coalition failed in an attempt to trigger parliament and resigned after Italy closed the borders and threatened to invade.

In the following election in 1959, the PCS and PSS together received only 24 of the 60 seats in parliament. Gasperoni, like several other members of the PCS and PSS, was stripped of parliamentary mandate for her role in the Rovereta clashes in August 1960. In the following election in 1964 Gasperoni ran again and was re-elected to the Consiglio Grande e generale, of which he belonged until 1983. The PCS remained in opposition. It was not until 1978 to 1983 that the PCS and PSS formed a left-wing government again with the Partito Socialista Unitario (PSU). Gasperoni was elected together with Adriano Reffi for the period from October 1, 1978 to April 1, 1979 as Capitano Reggente (head of state).
