Ernest Bersot

Ernest Bersot (born August 22, 1816 in Surgères ( Département Charente-Maritime ), † February 1, 1880 in Paris ) was a French philosopher and publicist .

Life

After attending secondary school in Bordeaux, Ernest Bersot attended normal school in Paris from 1836 to 1839 . He then worked in Rennes , Paris, Bordeaux, from 1843 in Dijon and from 1846 in Versailles as a professor of philosophy, which he represented in the spirit of Victor Cousins . He turned after he after the coup of Napoleon III. He was dismissed from his post on December 2, 1851 for refusing to take an oath, became a member of the Journal des débats in 1859 , a member of the Académie des sciences morales et politiques in 1866 and, after the end of the Second Empire, director of the normal school in 1871. He made a particular contribution to the French education system. He died in Paris in 1880 at the age of 63.
