Ernest de Sylly Hamilton Browne (born July 11, 1855 in England , † April 13, 1946 in Cheltenham ) was an Irish lawyer and tennis player.

Browne was born in 1855 to Major George Browne and his wife Susan Mary, noble son , and later attended Cheltenham College . From 1882 to 1885 he took part in the Wimbledon Championships , and reached there in 1885 the semi-finals, which he lost to Ernest Renshaw . In 1882 he won the Irish championships in singles and 1882-83 in mixed. He also won the title at the Scottish Championships from 1889 to 1891. In 1885 he married Ellen Augusta Ramsay. He later worked as a judge in King's County , Ireland.

Browne was a close friend of the brothers Ernest and William Renshaw . He died in 1946 in the resort of Cheltenham in the county of Gloucestershire .
