Ernest Favenc

Ernest Favenc (born October 21, 1845 in London , Great Britain , † November 14, 1908 in Sydney , Australia ) was an explorer of Australia.

He was educated in Berlin and Oxford .

In 1863 he arrived in New South Wales and after living in a commercial position for a year, he worked as a shepherd in the Queensland frontier counties .

In 1878 he was selected to explore the land along the western edge of Queensland towards Darwin to see if a railroad could be built. In the early 1880s he also undertook further expeditions to the south of the Gulf of Carpentaria and to the northwest of Western Australia .
