Ernest Tidyman

Ernest Tidyman (born January 1, 1928 in Cleveland , Ohio - † July 14, 1984 ) was an American writer and award-winning screenwriter .

From 1945 to 1946 Tidyman was in the US Army. Between 1954 and 1966 he worked as a journalist (for example for the New York Post and New York Times ).

Tidyman became famous for his scripts for the films Shaft and French Connection - Focal Point Brooklyn . Tidyman wrote a total of seven Shaft novels. The novels, which until then had only been shortened and distorted in Germany, were published in 2004 by Pendragon Verlag in new translations following the originals.
