The Ernesto Pass is a mountain pass in the north-western part of South Georgia in the South Atlantic . It connects Morsa Bay in the south with Right Whale Bay on the north coast.
On a 1931 British Admiralty map , a glacier in this area is shown as Don Ernesto Glacier . It is named after the whaling ship Don Ernesto of the Compañía Argentina de Pesca . The South Georgia Survey determined during measurements between 1955 and 1956 that this glacier was only rudimentary. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee transferred the naming of the glacier to the pass described here in a modified form in 1957.
