Ernesto Soto Reyes

Ernesto Soto Reyes (born April 16, 1899 in Puruándiro Michoacán , † April 29, 1972 ) was a Mexican ambassador .

Life

Ernesto Soto Reyes attended the Colegio Primitivio and then he prepared for the entrance exam to study at the Colegio San Nicolás in Morelia, Michoacan. He studies at the Colegio de San Nicolás and at the UNAM. In 1917 Ernesto Soto Reyes was a founding member of the Partido Socialista Michoacano . In 1921 he was mayor and from 1921 to 1922 he was a councilor in Morelia. He was secretary to the governor of Michoacán in 1929. From 1929 to 1932 he was chairman of the Partido Nacional Revolucionario in Michoacán. From 1932 to 1934 he was secretary of the CEN of the PNR.

On October 1, 1934, he introduced a bill for educational reform into parliament.

From 1933 to 1934 he was a member of the election campaign committee of Lázaro Cárdenas del Río and from 1935 to 1936 secretary of the Acción Agraria of the CEN of the PNR. In 1936 he was a member of the federal election committee.

Reyes became a Federal MP and Senator for the state of Michoacán from 1934 to 1940. In 1935 he was President of the Senate. He headed the PNR faction in the Senate.

After the presidency of Lázaro Cárdenas del Río , he entered the foreign service.
