Ernst Erni Maissen (born January 1, 1958 in Reinach BL ) is a former Swiss football player .

Club career

Erni Maissen grew up in Reinach and began his football career with the juniors of FC Reinach . In 1975 he moved to FC Basel and played as a midfielder alongside players like Stohler , Gaisser , Ramseier and Fischli . With FCB he was Swiss champion twice , in 1977 and 1980.

In the summer of 1982 Maissen moved to FC Zurich . He made his championship debut for Zurich on August 14, 1982 in a 5-1 home win against FC Luzern and he scored his first goal for FCZ in a 2-2 away draw at BSC Young Boys on August 14. Maissen stayed with FCZ for only one year and returned to FCB in July 1983. When FCB was relegated to National League B in 1987 , Maissen switched to the Young Boys in Bern. After only two years he moved back to FCB and ended his career there in 1991.

National team

Erni Maissen made his debut in the Swiss national team on March 26, 1980 with a 2-0 home win against Czechoslovakia in Basel . His 29th and last game was the 1-0 away defeat in Kaiserslautern against West Germany on April 27, 1988.
