Ernie Powell

Ernie Powell (born December 29, 1912 in Newark , New Jersey ; † unknown) was an American jazz musician ( tenor and alto saxophone , also clarinet ).

Live and act

Powell, who was an admirer of Coleman Hawkins and Benny Carter , with whom he also recorded in 1939/40, also played with Al Jenkins , Hot Lips Page , Eddie Heywood and in 1947 with Sy Oliver . In the field of jazz he was involved in 22 recording sessions between 1938 and 1947, in addition to the aforementioned with The Andrews Sisters , Billie Holiday ( God Blessed the Child , 1941), Jerry Kruger ( Summertime , 1939) and the Teddy Wilson Orchestra.
