Ernst-Andreas Ziegler (born November 28, 1938 in Weimar ) is a German journalist, author, university professor and social entrepreneur .

Life

Ziegler was local editor of the Wuppertaler General-Anzeiger (today: Westdeutsche Zeitung ) and in 1972 became head of the press and information office of the city of Wuppertal . He is co-founder of the city and university partnership between Košice in Slovakia and Wuppertal. He also played a key role in shaping the town twinning between Wuppertal and Be'er Scheva in Israel. After leaving the city, he started his own business in 2003 as a consultant specializing in communication and crisis management. The Technical University of Wuppertal's twin town Košice awarded him an honorary doctorate in 1999 as a European bridge builder. The laudation was given by Hans-Dietrich Genscher . Since then, Ziegler has taught political communication and political marketing at this university. In 2003 he was appointed professor there. From 1999 to 2004 Ziegler was chief advisor to the Slovakian President Rudolf Schuster for the German-speaking countries. Ernst-Andreas Ziegler is the initiator, driving force and managing director of the Junior University Wuppertal , which was founded in 2008 and is an educational institution for children and young people that is unique in Germany and specializes in science and technology.

Ziegler is a member of the board of directors of the German-Czech and Slovak Society and was managing director of the municipal working group Bergisch Land for 41 years . He is the bearer of the ring of honor of the city of Wuppertal . On November 18, 2019, he was elected an honorary citizen of the city of Wuppertal, and due to the corona crisis, he was not granted honorary citizenship until August 2020.
