The Ernst Barlach Comprehensive School is a comprehensive school in Dinslaken . It was named after the artist and writer Ernst Barlach . It has existed since 1985 and is the successor to the Ernst-Barlach-Gymnasium , whose school building it took over.

Around 1250 students are currently being taught here. In the lower secondary level , the comprehensive school has six courses, in the upper secondary level three courses. In the upper level, the school cooperates with two nearby high schools, the Theodor-Heuss-Gymnasium and the Otto Hahn -Gymnasium. The teaching staff consists of around 130 teachers and a few refrendars.

A special focus of the school is on theater work. In addition, every November since 1992, the multi-day literature week has been held with readings by well-known authors of books for children and young people who encourage students to read and write in discussions with the students. As guest authors, u. a. Max von der Grün , Willi Fährmann , Mario Giordano , Knister , Kristina Dunker , Inge Meyer-Dietrich and Alexa Hennig von Lange .

In 2020, the Ernst-Barlach Comprehensive School was named "School of the Future" for its commitment to the environment and sustainability.
