Ernst-Randolf Lochmann

Ernst-Randolf Lochmann (born July 14, 1931 in Halle ; † April 15, 2003 in Bonn ) was a German scientist , professor of natural sciences at the Free University of Berlin and a founding member of the Green Party .

Life

After graduating from high school in Halle in 1950, Lochmann studied chemistry at the TU Berlin from the winter semester 1951/52 . He completed his studies in 1959 with a Dipl.-Ing. from. In 1961, Dr.-Ing. He then worked at the Institute for Biophysics with Werner Stein , who later became Berlin's Senator for Culture. After completing his habilitation with a thesis on radiation and molecular biology, Lochmann was appointed professor at the Free University of Berlin in 1971.

Ernst-Randolf Lochmann died in Bonn in 2003 at the age of 71. His grave is in the Dahlem cemetery in Berlin.

Stasi allegations

In 2001 Der Spiegel reported that Lochmann had been used as an IM of the Stasi under the cover name "Dr. Zeitz" and had spied for the GDR for more than 20 years until the fall of the Wall . The federal prosecutor had come to the conclusion that there was no case of treason. These allegations, which were also picked up by other media, were denied by Lochmann in interviews.
