Ernst August von Werlhof

Ernst August von Werlhof (born November 24, 1778 in Celle ; † December 7, 1857 in Hanover ) was a privy councilor.

Life

Ernst August von Werlhof was the son of the Vice President of the Higher Appeal Court in Celle Wilhelm Gottfried von Werlhof (1744-1832). In 1799 he was auditor of the chancellery, 1802–1821 court and chancellery advisor at the Hanover judicial chancellery and in 1822 there was a secret judicial advisor, where he was at times provost vicar at the St. Alexandri monastery . In 1826 he became senior judicial councilor and in 1833 general secretary of the Ministry of Justice. 1832–38 he was an extraordinary assessor in the Secret Council College (forerunner of the State Council) and 1839–48 Secretary General of the State Council. In 1848 he became director of the Hanover Justice Office and as such a member of the State Council until 1853. In 1853 he became President of the Higher Court in Hanover and as such a member of the State Council from 1856.

He was also honored as the commander of the Royal Guelph Order . He is buried in the garden cemetery in Hanover.
