Tuzoia bispinosa is an extinct species from the genus Tuzoia with an uncertain position within the arthropod (Arthropoda).

features

Tuzoia bispinosa had an egg-shaped outline (length to height ratio about 1.52 in the holotype ) and a carapace length of about 90 mm. The upper edge was straight and had two large triangular spines in the front third with additional thorns in between. The front rostrum was broad, straight, relatively short and slightly overhanging. The posterior rostrum was small and almost triangular in shape. There was a central sting and a sting towards the abdomen on the rear edge, both of which were about the same size. The side elevation between the upper and lower edge ran roughly parallel to the upper edge and possibly had 8 small, flat spines. The net-like structure of the surface stretched over the entire armor and was more closely meshed towards the center and at the lower edge.

Locations

The species was found in the Kaili Formation , Guizhou Province , in southern China.

Systematics

The species was discovered in 1999 by Yuan J.-L. and Zhao Y.-L. first described. A synonym of the species is Tuzoia magna Yuan & Zhao, 1999 .
