Ernst Broermann

Ernst Broermann (born September 1, 1894 in Oelde , † September 29, 1970 in Bonn ) was a German psychologist.

Broermann passed the Abitur at the Theodorianum in Paderborn. He served as a volunteer reserve officer in the First World War . Then he studied at the University of Münster and at the Catholic Institute for Scientific Education . With the neo-scholastic Max Ettlinger he received his doctorate in 1925 at the University of Münster on a psychological topic of intelligence research . At the Catholic-oriented Pedagogical Academy in Bonn, from 1933 college for teacher training , he was appointed lecturer in 1926, in 1930 professor first for psychology and physical education, then for psychology and pedagogy. In 1939 he was drafted and first served in military psychology, and from 1942 onwards he last served as a major on the Eastern Front. From 1954 to 1959 he taught again at the PH Bonn. His educational psychology had a strong influence on elementary school teacher training.

Broermann joined the NSDAP in 1933 and in November 1933 signed the professors' commitment to Adolf Hitler at German universities and colleges .

His brother Johannes Broermann (1897-1984) was a well-known publisher ( Duncker & Humblot ).
