Ernst Carlebach

Ernst Carlebach (* 1838 ; † March 26, 1923 in Heidelberg ) was a bookseller, grand ducal court of Baden antiquarian and chairman of the synagogue council.

After training as a bookseller in London with Nikolaus Trübner , he worked for Heinrich Brockhaus in Leipzig. Coming from Mannheim, he opened a book and art antiquariat on October 15, 1863 in Heidelberg on the corner of Hauptstrasse and Friedrichstrasse. On July 6, 1865, he auctioned the house at 136 Hauptstrasse (corner of Augustinergasse , built in 1720). In 1877 the antiquarian bookshop moved to Hauptstrasse 136. The antiquarian Jacques Rosenthal worked for him for some time.

He was married to Emma, ​​b. Marcus († July 6, 1926). In 1904 his son Albert Carlebach took over the antiquarian bookshop.
