Ernst Ehrenbaum
Ernst Ehrenbaum (born December 20, 1861 in Perleberg , † May 6, 1942 in Marburg an der Lahn ) was a German biologist. His specialty was oceanography .
After graduating from high school in Perleberg, he studied zoology in Berlin, Würzburg and Kiel from 1879–84. After passing the state examination, he initially worked as a school teacher in Kiel. From 1888 he was head of a zoological hiking station on the North Sea. Four years later he was appointed as an assistant and later as a research assistant for sea fishing at the Biological Institute Helgoland . In 1900 he was appointed professor and in 1910 at the Natural History Museum in Hamburg. In 1920 he became a full member of the German Commission for Marine Research. In 1931 he retired.
