Ernst Fritz (politician)

Ernst Fritz (born September 19, 1945 in Dalaas ; † April 27, 2018 ibid) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and managing director. Fritz was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament from 1997 to 2004 .

Ernst Fritz was born on September 19, 1945 as the son of the farmer Edmund Fritz and his wife Maria in Dalaas in the Klostertal . After attending the elementary school in Dalaas and the lower level of the federal high school in Bludenz , Fritz graduated from the commercial school in Feldkirch from 1961 to 1963 . He then initially became a commercial employee of a tax consultancy firm in Bludenz. Ernst Fritz joined the Austrian People's Party as early as 1962 and was chairman of the Dalaas Young People's Party . On May 1, 1964, he was elected parish secretary in his home parish and in 1970 he was elected to the parish council for the first time . From October 13, 1971 he was mayor of Dalaas.

Ernst Fritz came to the Vorarlberg state parliament for the first time on April 9, 1997 as a successor candidate from the Bludenz electoral district for Siegmund Stemer, who was appointed to the state government . Also in the 27th Vorarlberg state parliament he was sworn in as a successor for the state councilor Stemer. At the end of the legislative period of the 27th state parliament on October 4, 2004, Ernst Fritz also left the state parliament. After giving way to his successor Oswald Wachter in the mayoral election in 2005, he resigned from this political office in May 2005 and became full-time managing director of the Sonnenkopfbahnen .

Ernst Fritz died on April 27, 2018 in Dalaas. At the age of 26, he was the youngest mayor of Austria when he took office in 1971. When he left the mayor's office in 2005, Fritz was the longest serving mayor in Vorarlberg with 34 years of service. Ernst Fritz was married and had four children.
