Ernst Grinzenberger ( April 20, 1866 in Vienna - after 1902) was an Austrian opera singer (baritone) and actor.

Life

Grinzenberger, the son of a magistrate, served as a municipal treasurer from 1886 to 1895, but he used his free time to train as a singer and actor and most recently attended the Vienna Conservatory, which he graduated with honors.

He got his first engagement in Cologne, where he made his debut as “Silvio” in Bajazzo and “Heerrufer” in Lohengrin . He then worked at several Austrian provincial theaters, from 1896 to 1897 at the Karltheater in Vienna, then at the court theaters in Stuttgart and Karlsruhe, at the Metropoltheater in Berlin (1900), at the Residenztheater in Dresden (1901) and was then a member of the Schall und Rauch company in Berlin.

Grinzenberger, who was actually the first lyrical and play baritone to work in opera and operetta and who was lucky enough to work as a singer everywhere, also repeatedly gave evidence of his talent for acting.
