Ernst Habs
Ernst Habs (born October 19, 1858 in Magdeburg ; † July 6, 1898 there ) was a German sculptor .
Ernst Habs became known locally through his works in his native Magdeburg, which he created in the style of late classicism . The figurative ornamentation of the Anna Ebert Bridge over the Old Elbe in Magdeburg and the Friedrich Friesen monument with the portrait bust of the educator and freedom fighter, unveiled on September 24, 1893, are among his works, as is the monument to Karl Möllinger in Höxter .
He was known nationwide as the creator of various Kaiser Wilhelm I monuments . In 1892 the first Kaiser Wilhelm I monument built according to his plans was ceremoniously unveiled in Burg (near Magdeburg) . At the end of the 19th century there were four of his statues of Kaiser Wilhelm I in Germany , none of which have survived for posterity.
