Ernst Jähde

Ernst Robert Jähde (born January 19, 1860 in Pillgram , today: Jacobsdorf ; † 1923 ) was an inventor and entrepreneur. In 1899 he founded the "Johannahütte" glass factory in Schönborn , Niederlausitz .

Life

Ernst Jähde was born as the son of the royal railway clerk Carl Ferdinand Jähde and his wife Caroline Wilhelmine Christiane born. Paul was born. On July 24, 1896, he married Johanna Haase, whose name the glass factory in Schönborn bears.

From 1890 to 1898 he worked in Penzig , Lower Silesia, as a businessman, accountant and glassworks director (1896) in the “Gebrüder Putzler” glassworks, a relatively large glassworks with six port furnaces. From Penzig, Jähde not only brought with him great experience in the export business, but also a solid knowledge of glass production.

In Penzig he was responsible for a number of innovations and partially patented inventions, such as “Jähde hard glass”, the simultaneous melting of six holes in bulbous cylinders or gold ruby ​​glass for photographic purposes.
