Ernst Jean-Joseph (born June 11, 1948 in Cap-Haïtien ; † August 14, 2020 ) was a Haitian football player . The defender was a Haitian international .

Career

He played at the Violette Athletic Club . In 1978 he was with the Chicago Sting in the North American Soccer League , where he played nine games. Then he returned to Violette.

National team

Ernst Jean-Joseph was appointed to the Haitian national team a total of 14 times between 1972 and 1980. He and the team qualified for the 1974 World Cup in Germany, which meant Haiti's first World Cup participation . There he was used in the first game against Italy .

controversy

During the doping control he was tested positive for ephedrine and excluded from the tournament. This makes him the first player ever to be excluded from the soccer world championships for doping. Two years later he was back on the national team. In the qualifying round for the 1978 World Cup , Haiti finished second behind Mexico, which was then allowed to go to Argentina.
