Ernst Karl Rudolf von Kalckreuth
Ernst Karl Rudolf von Kalckreuth (born August 18, 1745 in Arensdorf , Oststernberg district , † August 25, 1813 in Schweidnitz ) was a Prussian major general , commander of Schweidnitz and, most recently, brigadier of inactive officers in Silesia .
origin
His parents were the heir to Arensdorf Rudolf Erhard von Kalckreuth (* August 19, 1708; † 1750) and his wife Therese Beate von Wedel (* October 14, 1719; † February 12, 1802). His brother Hans Christoph Ernst von Kalckreuth became major general, Karl Siegmund von Kalckreuth was state director of Neumark.
Life
Ernst Karl Rudolf von Kalckreuth was born in Arensdorf in the Oststernberg district in Brandenburg, today's district of Jarnatów in the Polish city of Lubniewice . From 1755 he attended the Joachimsthaler Gymnasium in Berlin, from there he came to the Prince of Prussia as a page in 1758 . On January 18, 1761 he was transferred to the Prince's Infantry Regiment No. 18 as an ensign . He still took part in some battles of the Seven Years' War . He fought in the battle near Burkersdorf, took part in the retreat from Trautenau and in the siege of Schweidnitz .
After the war he became second lieutenant on April 2, 1766 and premier lieutenant on May 25, 1778. In the Bavarian War of Succession of 1778/79 he fought in battle near Neustädt. On August 22, 1786 he received a prebend at the St. Nikolai monastery in Magdeburg, on November 1, 1786 he was still chief of staff. On April 25, 1788 he was promoted to captain and company commander, and on June 18, 1794 he became major. On February 20, 1795 he was appointed commander of the grenadier battalion and on June 1, 1799, commander of a battalion in the regiment. In 1800 he was appointed canon in Magdeburg, on June 8th 1804 lieutenant colonel and on June 8th 1806 colonel. In the fourth coalition war he fought in the defense of Neisse. After the surrender he was put inactive on June 16, 1807 with half his salary. But on December 12, 1808, he joined the troops in Neisse as a brigadier. On February 18, 1809, he was retired as major general with a pension of 600 thalers and the Pour le Mérite . On March 13, 1809, because of his exemplary behavior during the siege of Neisse, he was appointed ad interim commander of Schweidnitz , for which his pension was increased to 1000 thalers. On January 2, 1810, he was appointed brigadier of inactive officers in Silesia. On June 12, 1813, he was finally retired and was allowed to keep his pension. He died in Schweidnitz on August 25, 1813.
