Hans Christoph Ernst von Kalckreuth (born June 14, 1741 in Arensdorf , Oststernberg district , † November 1, 1825 in Breslau ) was a Prussian major general .

His parents were the heir to Arensdorf Rudolf Erhard von Kalckreuth (* August 19, 1708; † 1750) and his wife Therese Beate, born von Wedel (* October 14, 1719; † February 12, 1802). He had two brothers: Karl Siegmund became regional director of Neumark, Ernst Karl Rudolf major general.

Military career

Kalckreuth came on August 1, 1756 as a private corporal in the infantry regiment "von Tresckow" of the Prussian army . During the Seven Years' War he was wounded near Prague , fought in the battle of Kay , the skirmishes near Gabitz and Domstädtl and the sieges of Schweidnitz and Neisse. In the battle near Moys on September 7, 1759, he was taken prisoner in Austria, from which he was exchanged on April 2, 1758. He was promoted to major on April 18, 1791 and on December 12, 1792 he was appointed battalion commander. In the First Coalition War Kalckreuth fought in the cannonade of Valmy and in the battles of Alsheim, Limbach, Eschweiler, Zweibrücken, the storming of Bitch and the battle of Kaiserslautern . On March 31, 1793 he received the order Pour le Mérite for Alsheim .

After the war, on April 1, 1799, he became the commander of a grenadier regiment that was formed from the grenadier companies of the regiments "zu Hohenlohe-Ingelfingen" and "von Treuenfels" . Kalckreuth was promoted to lieutenant colonel on May 29, 1799 and regimental commander on October 19, 1799. In this capacity he was promoted to colonel on May 28, 1801 . Kalckreuth experienced his 50th anniversary of service on August 1, 1806, when he went into the Fourth Coalition War . In the battle of Jena he was seriously wounded and taken prisoner. On August 10, 1807 he was made inactive and only received half pay . As of December 10, 1812 Kalckreuth received a support of 50 thaler addition and it was on November 1, 1813 farewell with a pension granted by 600 Taler. In recognition of his services rendered, he was awarded the character of major general on July 5, 1814 . He died in Breslau on November 1, 1825.
