The Ernst Klett Sprachen GmbH was an internationally oriented language publisher of educational media with headquarters in Stuttgart and other branches in Munich and Madrid . history

Ernst Klett Sprachen Verlag is part of the Klett Group . This group also includes the publishers Ernst Klett Verlag , Klett-Cotta Verlag , Pons-Verlag , and Friedrich Verlag . The EKS company was founded on November 29, 2001 and started operations on January 1, 2002. On January 1, 2002, the sub-operation “PONS Dictionaries and Self-Learning” was split off from Ernst Klett Verlag GmbH to Ernst Klett Sprachen GmbH. In addition, the PONS and Klett International divisions were spun off into PONS GmbH in 2008. Ernst Klett Sprachen then aligned itself to the needs of language teachers and learners in institutional markets, specializing in products of the Klett brand. In 2012 Ernst Klett Sprachen Verlag acquired the publishing program from Fillibach, a publishing house for didactics. Klett Fillibach publishes books on new developments in didactics, especially on German as a second, foreign and mother tongue. Only one year later, Ernst Klett Sprachen bought the textbooks division of the Langenscheidt publishing house and founded the Klett-Langenscheidt company based in Munich. On January 1, 2017, Klett-Langenscheidt GmbH merged into Ernst Klett Sprachen GmbH, the Munich branch was retained. In 2018, Ernst Klett Sprachen expanded its range of English Language Teaching (ELT) titles and acquired the English publisher Delta Publishing, which focuses on the area of ​​Young Learners, Business English, certified examination materials. The company was merged within the Klett Group in 2019 and deleted from the commercial register on August 8, 2019.

Publishing program

The publisher develops learning media in digital and print formats for schoolchildren as well as textbooks for adult language learners at home and abroad. The program includes products for over 20 languages, including German as a mother tongue , second language and foreign language . In addition to textbooks, additional materials such as readings, grammars and vocabulary as well as products for certificate preparation are sold.

Ernst Klett Sprachen GmbH has the so-called Klett lily as its logo . The logo is also used by other companies in the Klett Group. It was developed in 1953 by S. and H. Lämmle from Stuttgart and consists of a stylized E and K, the initials of the company's founder Ernst Klett. In addition, the Velcro lily at Ernst Klett Sprachen is accompanied by the motto “Languages ​​for life!”.
