Ernst Knoesel

Ernst Knoesel (born October 19, 1929 , † January 28, 2005 ) was a German football player and sports official.

Knoesel was active as a football player in the 1950s. Among other things, he belonged to the squad of the upper division SpVgg Fürth .

At the beginning of the 1970s he worked on the organizing committee for the Summer Olympics in Munich . Shortly after the games, he moved to the head of the Bavarian Football Association , which he held until 1998, and later became Vice President of the German Football Association . In addition, for more than 20 years as President, he headed the fortunes of the South German Football Association , of which he was appointed Honorary President.

From 1973 to 1983 Knoesel was Vice President of the Bavarian State Sports Association and then until 1998 its treasurer.

Ernst Knoesel died on January 28, 2005 after a serious illness at the age of 75.
